Forget smartguns, bioweave body armour and drones - the chaos-laden Far Cry series is shrugging off the future-obsessed mantle of video games in its next installment, Primal.
Set to arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 23 February, Primal sees players assume the role of Takkar, a "seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group" bidding to survive in the Stone Age.
The land-grabbing, explorative thrust of the series will remain intact, but rather than taking down mercenary forces you'll "have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros".
