If you cried at Kes, you’re going to have a hard time watching this video.
In what could very well be one of the saddest animal - but nonetheless surprising - videos we’ve ever posted on ShortList.com, here’s footage of a falcon being hit by a lorry seconds after being released for a segment on Danish TV station DR.
Let off by his owner, no sooner has this magnificent bird of prey taken to the skies that it decides to swoop right onto a motorway where it’s promptly hit by a haulage lorry travelling at high speed; the almighty thwack audible for everyone to hear. If it's not a hoax, it's utterly heart-breaking.
Making it doubly awkward for the presenters, the owner just stands there, dumfounded, unresponsive. It only gets more uncomfortable when the crew present him with the carcass of his dead bird.
We’re not laughing. We coughed.

He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
