Such is the power of the Lacoste brand that its designers wouldn’t have to do much more than stitch a miniature crocodile onto its products to ensure they’re instantly plucked off shelves across the globe.
However, the label’s latest range sees it stepping boldly off the beaten track – with some pleasingly eye-catching results.
For the Lacoste L!VE autumn 2012 capsule, acclaimed US illustrator Micah Lidberg has been brought in to emblazon his painstakingly intricate drawings – depicting everything from volcano-based Jurassic warfare to monsters and space crafts – across the brand’s T-shirts (£45), short-sleeved shirts (£120) and trademark polo shirts (£120). There are even shoes (£65) and tote bags (£125) boasting Lidberg’s brilliantly eccentric artwork.
And, most importantly for Lacoste devotees, you’ll still find that much-loved miniature croc in among the multicolour melee.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
