We love Halloween for three reasons: it's the only time of the year we get to show off our incredible pumpkin carving skills, we get to throw eggs at houses and blame it on kids, and a new The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror episode.
This year's (the 24th) looks to be an absolute doozy, with a three-minute-long opening directed by Lord of Horror, Guillermo del Toro. There are references to his own showreel (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Blade II, Cronos) and others, including: The Birds, Phantom Of The Opera, World War Z, The Fly, Alice in Wonderland, Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven, Frankenstein, Cthulhu, Dracula, The Car... we've got work to do, so feel free to add all the rest we've missed in the comments below.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
