If you didn't laugh, you'd cry.
Spanish cyclist Eloy Teruel missed out on victory during a race at the weekend when he miscounted his laps and celebrated victory with one still remaining.
He was leading in the seventh stage of the Tour of California, crossed the line and went into full celebration mode, before the haunting moment when he noticed that everyone else was still pedalling hard. Sadly, once he realised his mistake, the rest of the pelaton had caught up; he eventually finished in 56th place.
He was, luckily, able to see the funny side, later tweeting ‘I wanted to win, luckily no one has seen. Hahahahaha.’
Sadly for Eloy, the internet exists these days, so unfortunately lots of people will see his mistake and probably indulge in a few 'hahahas' of their own.
