Following the public confirmation that Chris Evans will be taking Clarkson’s seat on the motor show, tongues were immediately wagging with speculation as to who may or may not replace him.
Prior to the ginger DJ being announced as the show’s new frontman both the beeb and ‘former’ presenters James May and Richard Hammond have remained tightlipped about the future of the show’s line-up. The latter two heavily suggesting that they would not be returning to the show without Clarkson, despite recent rumours of the BBC offering a staggering a mount of money for the Top Gear pair’s return.
But could Evans have sealed the deal for them? Touching upon his new role whilst speaking on Radio 2, the great rusty haired one revealed that he had been speaking with Clarkson, May, Hammond and former executive producer Andy Wilman before the official announcement.
In particular it would appear that Evans has struck up something of a bond with floppy headed James May.
‘James called me back straight away. We had a chat, we are going to meet up today or tomorrow to talk about things. Who knows what might happen there?' Evans speculated.
Which definitely throws another rumour into the mill for fans to chew on.
