Determined to out-troll Kanye West, who is rumoured to be making an album of animal sounds, Beck has revealed that his new album will consist of paper sheet music. And nothing else.
The Devil's Haircut songster will release Beck Handsen's Song Reader, a collection of 20 songs of sheet music stored in a "lavishly produced hardcover carrying case." We should damn well hope so.
The quality of the new music will obviously depend on the person playing the songs. His website states the following:
"The songs here are as unfailingly exciting as you'd expect from their author, but if you want to hear "Do We? We Do," or "Don't Act Like Your Heart Isn't Hard," bringing them to life depends on you."
The whole exercise is billed as "an experiment in what an album can be at the end of 2012" or something.
It's set to be released in December which gives Kanye four months to come up with something even more pretentious. Good luck with that.
