This question from a 2008 version of Trivial Pursuit really did not age well
06 December 2017

It’s safe to say that Ben Affleck’s turn as the caped crusader in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was not exactly met with universal acclaim by fans.

It probably didn’t help that the film itself was widely considered overly-long and messy - although it’s worth pointing out that it was a box office success, netting $873 million from a $300 million budget - but Affleck and co-star Henry Cavill nonetheless managed to ‘triumph’ at the Golden Raspberries, as they both walked away with Worst Actor awards.

Affleck reprised the role in the recent Justice League movie but the future of Affleck as Batman has been the subject of much speculation, although he is still due to star in The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, which is expected to begin production in 2018 - he was originally supposed to write, direct, and produce the film, but stepped down from these roles.

And now, to add insult to injury, an old Trivial Pursuit question from 2008 has hit hard. Real hard.

By 2008, Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer and Adam West had all played Batman, and it seems the makers of Trivial Pursuit were confident enough that Affleck would never be given the role to include him as the correct answer.

How wrong they were.

Naturally, someone decided to mansplain the joke.

While others decided to use the opportunity to alter the passage of Bat-history.

But one person saw that everyone else had missed the real meaning of the question. And this person is correct.

However, it turns out that this was not the only quiz game which unerringly predicted the future:

It was left to this Twitter user to reveal the true, actual answer though:
