

While we might watch in awe at a cocktail waiter doing his thing behind a bar, we're not that great at making legible notes. Our mouths are usually too busy watering, for one.
So we opted for a more realistic solution. Why not ask an actual expert? We spoke to JJ Goodman, of the London Cocktail Club, who gave us five quick and easy to remember tips for making the perfect cocktail.
1. Sour
Great quality lemons do the job, soften them by rolling them before you press
2. Sweet
Try honeys and maple as great alternatives to caster sugar
3. Ice
You’ll need a lot, make sure you have plenty in the freezer
4. Glassware
Invest in some sexy glassware, you don’t need much to look great
5. Spirits
Booze adds more than alcohol, for a dry finish which subtle flavour that adds to the finish, make sure you buy quality
