Survive the Undead Nightmare

Surviving the Old West in Red Dead Redemption was tough enough, but the onset of a zombie plague made life a whole lot trickier. Luckily help is at hand. And not from just anyone. The guys at Rockstar, who actually made the game, have provided the information they believe is crucial to getting the most out of your Undead Nightmare experience.

The Blunderbuss

With all the general stores closed during the undead apocalypse, ammo is hard to come by. That’s where the blunderbuss comes in. You make it during the storyline missions, and can load it with unique ammo that’s overwhelmingly common – zombie body parts. What’s more, it’s a one-shot kill. Because whatever you hit explodes on impact.

Chupacabra

One of many mythical creatures now roaming the wilderness. Although killing it won’t be easy. Found in Mexico, and only available when you’ve completed the Undead Hunter Rank 4 challenge, it’s incredibly fast, agile and deadly. So keep your distance, keep quiet and aim for the head.

The Unicorn

Once the Chupcabra’s dead, the unicorn unlocks. Basically the best horse in the game (and not just because it leaves a rainbow coloured trail behind it), it has unlimited stamina and is basically impervious to bullets. Find and break it in the fields northwest of Torquemada.

The Horses of the Apocalypse

Getting far enough into the game to unlock the unicorn will take time. Luckily there are four other mythical horses roaming the plains. War has a fiery body that will ignite zombies on contact. It’s found in New Austin. Pestilence is practically immortal and is found in West Elizabeth. Famine has unlimited stamina and can be tracked down in Nuevo Paraiso. Death will cause the zombies’ heads to explode on contact, and can be found in any of the three areas mentioned, but not until youv’e completed Rank 3 of the Four Horses of the Apocalypse challenge.
