Brazilian Match Played on most Waterlogged Pitch Ever

waterloggedpitch1.jpg

We know diving is on the increase in football, but this really is a step too far.

A Brazilian Serie B match between Oeste and Boa Esporte was played it truly ridiculous conditions over the weekend, with a mid-game deluge turning the pitch into a waterlogged mess. Despite oceans of water, the referee declined to abandon the game, which was reduced to a farce with the ball regularly stopping in the water and great plumes of spray erupting whenever anyone tried to kick it.

Luckily, as they were Brazilian, many of them simply adapted to keeping the ball in the air with headers and volleys.

Oeste eventually ran out 2-1 winners: take a look below, it's a wonder anyone didn't drown.
