The first teaser trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One looks epic

Hot on the heels of The Force Awakens, which obliterated the global box office like the Death Star does planets, here comes the teaser trailer for the next part of Disney’s saga expansion: Rogue One.

Directed by Monsters and Godzilla filmmaker Gareth Edwards, and taking place just before the events of 1977's A New Hope, the story involves a team led by Felicity Jones attempting to steal the blueprints for the Death Star (and, you now, hopefully reveal up some massively fatal design flaw that blows the thing up).

Standing in their way are the usual menaces: AT-AT Walkers, Stormtroopers (this time with black armour) and other nefarious factions of the dark side flagged up in this all-action trailer. Part of several planned spin-off films, this one hits cinemas on 14 December.

Looks like Christmas is coming early this year.
