Turn your Apple Watch into a Wii

Turn your Apple Watch into a Wii

Turn your Apple Watch into a Wii
25 June 2015

What's the best thing you can do with an Apple Watch?

No, other than tell the time.

It's not monitoring your heart rate, nor is it fumbling about trying to reply to a text that you just received on the phone that's in your pocket - it's by playing Wii bowling... sorry, Bowling Central!

A new update for the Apple Watch iOS is giving app developers a chance to incorporate the accelerometer data into the functions of their app. As a result, Rolocule Games is in the process of tweaking its bowling simulator Bowling Central to use the Apple Watch in a similar fashion to the way in which the Wii remote is used for house party favourite Wii Bowling.

By connecting your Apple Watch to an Apple TV-connected screen via Air Play, you'll be able to play the bowling game by throwing invisible bowling balls at your screen - without the need for a visual sensor. The app will support this new functionality as soon as the new Apple Watch iOS drops later this year.

Convenient? Not in the slightest. Fun? Heaps of the stuff.
