They say never to judge a book by its cover. How about a menu?
This is Kate Ovens, an appropriately named food lover whose slender frame belies the fact she’s been regularly consuming an unholy amount of grub for speed eating challenges.
Having scoffed 27-in pizzas to 35oz fish and chips, the marketing student has just taken on and overcome her biggest challenge at Newcastle’s Jam Jar, imbibing an unspeakably calorific 28oz burger in an incredible nine minutes and 21 seconds.
Wolfing down three huge burger patties, a mountain of pulled pork, cheese, three layers of bread, a side of fries and an Oreo milkshake, watching the feat is enough to make you hungry and sick at the same time.
Unlike famed competitive eater Adam Richman, normally reaching a sweaty state towards the end of his challenges, stray specks of burger juice aside, Ovens deals with it like a consummate pro, barely smudging her lip gloss and tactically using the milkshake to help clear the throat and pile more calorific goodness in.
A genuine glutton for punishment, keep an eye on her YouTube page as Ovens has another food challenge in around a fortnight from now.
Roughly the same amount of time it would take us mortals to finish that burger.
