In life, you should always get what you pay for.
One man fully aware of this is builder Paul Hopkinson, who has just attempted to highlight how Costa Coffee may be ripping consumers off with a video which has now gone viral.
Filming himself pouring the contents of one large self-service machine cup into one regular cup - 30p cheaper - Hopkinson shows that the larger drink fits into the ostensibly smaller container without a drop even being spilled.
As eye-opening as a large latte, it wasn’t long before this video was picked up by a few equally angry viewers and shared on Costa’s official Facebook page, eliciting this official response from the chain:
"Hi Paul, thanks for taking the time to send in your video! Despite what it looks like I can assure you you're not being duped in any way. The regular cup is a 12oz and the large is a 16oz so there is a 4 fluid oz in size difference. Plus you also get the extra shot of coffee, hence the price difference!"
Curiously, the company's polite and expansive retort even led to some users backing Costa up, claiming there is a noticable difference, and that the extra shot of coffee does indeed warrant the change of price.
