Crossbreeding a pizza and a burger is nothing new but, thus far, it's never been done particularly well. There were the pizza sliders and the pizza with cheeseburgers stuffed in the crust but both felt like mere footnotes to the love affair between patty and dough.
All that is about to change. Boston Pizza, a Canadian chain, has created the refreshingly self-explanatory "Pizzaburger" which finally gets the balance right.
The fatty meal consists of a half-pound prime rib patty with pizza sauce, pepperoni, bacon and mozzarella encased in toasted pizza dough. There's also a vegetarian version which replaces meat with mozzarella, cheddar, feta, asiago and parmesan.
