Don't worry - you're not about to dig through another article chocked full of tedious "year of Back to the Future Part II" references. Promise. There's not a hoverboard gag in sight.
The only reason we bring it up is because Nike forced us to. They've just released the SB Eric Koston Mid Premium - an otherwise very normal skate shoe that's been given a special, Back to the Future colour release (more commonly known as "Wolf Grey").
The heel-supporting skate shoe has been decked out in a colourway appropriated dubbed the "McFly". Much like the self-lacing Nike Mag of 2015, the Koston is bathed in soft grey, with a white Swoosh, white midsole and dappled sole effect. Movie memorabilia aside, it's as close to a real-world equivalent of the famous shoe you're likely to get.
The Nike branding even glows in the same blue as the iconic film shoe - but that's where the similarities end. The laces and velcro strap are manual, while the Koston-inspired flex grooves are designed for conventional skateboards that obey the laws of physics.
Available from Nike.com, you can pick up these subtle tributes for £75.
