The Nike Air Force 1 finally gets the Flyknit treatment

Favourite of rappers 1996 through 2004 and one-time legend of the basketball court, the Nike Air Force One has pedigree and clout – literal clout: the things are fucking huge; stylish clompers meant for tramping through sidewalk slush in grey New York as opposed to sunny Sundays in Britain, with its pub dogs and Instagram’d #cheekypints and Sunday roasts slathered in gravy and horseradish.

But, thankfully, the famed AF1 has been given a mesh job by Nike that has been long in the offing: now suitable for spring and summer, when your feet get all hot and maybe you’d want to wear some shorts from time to time, the Flyknit Air Force One features light(er)weight construction and the company’s patented uppers which (deep breath) “are made entirely of polyester yarn in a precise knit construction process” creating “a featherweight, form-fitting and virtually seamless shoe upper”. Well. How lovely.

We’re big fans.
