We've seen the future. Well, from the ankle down at least.
This prescient slice of footwear comes in the form of the latest collection from Yohji Yamamoto's fashion-focused Adidas imprint, Y-3 - and while it might look like a footwear vision plucked from a dim and distant horizon, it's set to hit shelves in a matter of months.
As is Yamamoto's wont, the Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 line blends the core structures of Adidas' footwear heritage with a splice of sport luxe sensibility. The ever-popular QASA HIGH and Kazuhuna return, along with some bold insulated looks.
Bold, bizarre and impossibly cool, the new Y-3 range won't be for everybody - but don't be surprised if some of these design tweaks could trickle down into 'normal' Adidas trainers of the future.
We'll have to wait for the weather to turn colder before we find out pricing details on the new Y-3 range, but expect it to be on the luxurious end of the trainer scale.
