The High-Tech Sony Bike

The High-Tech Sony Bike

07 September 2014

Until the day Raleigh starts making moves into the plasma TV game, you have every right to arch your eyebrows at the prospect of a ‘Sony bike'.

But don't. The electronics giant has now unveiled its Xperia Bike, debuting at this year’s IFA conference in Berlin, where, from what we can tell so far, it’s being hailed as a game-changing piece of entertainment-on-wheels.

Equipped with power-assisted speed settings you’d expect of today’s e-bike, it also comes with a phone holder for the new Xperia Z3 phone, along with 180-degree action cameras fitted into the saddle and handlebars, allowing your live feed to link up with the phone’s live map setting.

And that's not even the best thing. Riders will even be able to play their music directly through the bike thanks to speakers craftily built into the handlebars, which should get you noticed if those stout wheels don’t.

Sony have so far been reluctant to say whether the Xperia bike will ever get a general release, so watch this space.
