No, we've no idea where our nearest trail is either. There's a park round the corner that's got a slightly worn bit of grass near the bins, but we're not sure that counts. But such is the aesthetic appeal of adidas Originals' latest rugged runner that we'd happily wear them in less dramatic climbs. Like the pub.
The latest edition to the brand's SL family, the Loop Runner TR adds some height and steel to the usually low-riding trainer. A mud-resisting ballistic mesh forms the main portion of the upper, while suede overlays break up the texture. Perhaps the most significant alteration is the inclusion of thick tube lacing with a toughened metal eyelet, adding some serious security to your leaf-strewn run (or route to the bar).
The moulded speckled EVA midsole supplies a great wadge of padding protection, while a sole inspired by the shape of shattered ice helps keep you from losing your footing. Breathable, washable, this is the only time we'll recommend you get a nice pair of trainers good and muddy.
Currently available on adidas' US site and expected to drop in the UK soon, you can pick these up for around £46.
