‘Limited edition’ is usually a good thing. It gives an item an alluring air of exclusivity.
However, when an edition is so limited that you can’t even buy it in this country, it swiftly morphs from ‘good thing’ into ‘annoying thing’. Case in point: Chanel’s Egoïste. The iconic, sandalwood-bolstered Nineties fragrance had previously been something we had to seek out on trips abroad – but, as of this month, it’s back in UK stores, priced from £46 for 50ml.
Rejoice. And smell nice, too.
