Fireworks are fantastic, but photos never quite capture them in all their glory. They mainly end up as 'blurry, 99% black with a few squiggles' attempts.
However, Canadian photographer David Johnson has created a unique technique to capture these incredible photos, taken at the International Fireworks Show in Ottawa, which really put our efforts to shame.
Johnson used a long exposure, with each shot lasting between one and two seconds; however, during the explosions he would quickly refocus - from an out-of-focus blur, to an in-focus point.
As you can see, these create a range of amazing images and shapes which show fireworks as you've never seen them before.
