If, like us, you prefer your salted pretzels to come with a covering of chocolate, then you'll understand why the soy sauce ice cream is a wonderful thing to befall the world of confectionery.
Created by Japanese company Hirota, the salty and sweet treat is a filling for its cream puffs.
Tokyo-based developer Kunihiko Shirokawa said: "It's a mixture of soy sauce and ice cream, producing a well-balanced salty, yet sweet, ice cream which is perfect for the summer."
The company has teamed up Yamani Soy Sauce Co for the project, a business based in Rikuzentakata, a city in northeastern Japan devastated by the March 2011 tsunami. A portion of the proceeds from the venture will be donated to continuing aid efforts in the area.
Looks like we'll be heading over to Japan then. That or we'll be creating our own homemade version.
