Much like Ant & Dec, smell and taste are inseparable — a fact exemplified by the latest limited-edition fragrance range from Thierry Mugler. The Taste Of Fragrance range combines scents wrought as much from haute cuisine as haute couture, adding a culinary slant to some staple fragrances. A*Men (100ml, £50) uses a concentrate of red pepper to create a warm, masculine scent, combined with oriental and woody notes.
There are scents for women too, all of which explore similar foodie territory, and could make original festive gifts (especially as none of them feature essence of sprout). The classic Angel (35ml, £42) has praline, pure cocoa powder and caramelised almonds, while Alien (30ml, £39) has been given an edge of salted butter caramel.
It’s worth bearing in mind they will smell considerably more pleasant than they taste.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
