Following the craft beer boom, and indeed taste explosion for anything in a pint glass, it was only a matter of time before the humble beer wasn't enough for some clever, well dressed upstart, and it would appear Hop Theory are those very upstarts.

Essentially the beer equivalent of Ribena, only in tea bag form instead of juice and with less Tim Henman #Throwback moments, Hop Theory are a Kickstarter company inviting fellow booze enthusiasts to become their own brewer. At least in their own words they are, it's actually more of an invitation to buy tasteless cheap lager and throw in one of their magic hop enthused teabags to make it into something more akin to an award winning IPA. Which if it sounds bonkers, it's kind of because it is.
But, given the fact that thus far their Kickstarter project has already generated $19.5k of their $25k target, it's definitely not one to snigger at. In fact, despite a dubious initial reaction to the mere idea of the product, early taste tests among the brewing industry have been well received.
