Brown. The colour of the mundane, utilitarian, uniform bore. A 'blend into the background' tone best reserved for school shoes and twigs. Unless it's being handled by Nike, in which case brown is somehow transformed into a very enticing prospect indeed.
Taking its cue from the gradual browning of nature, Nike Sportswear's "Escape" pack is awash with autumnal colours and oil-finished leathers.
Four models have been reworked for the pack, incorporating light bone, ale brown and bronze tones: the Air Max 1 (£96), Air Max 90 (£102), Air Max 95 (£128) and the Internationalist Mid (£90).
Set to go on sale at Nike's online store and in select retailers, we'll be making our own get away to the back of the queue when they launch on 13 December.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
