International R Kelly Day. Bacon Day. Steak and blow... you get the idea. There are some mightily silly 'Days' knocking about the PR calendar, and Nike have just slotted in one of their own.
First released on 26 March 1987, the Air Max 1 became the dominant force in sports footwear - the visible Air window turning the heads of sneaker addicts and athletes alike.
To commemorate nearly three decades of their iconic trainer (we guess they missed the 25th and couldn't be bothered to wait another three years) 26 March is set to be Air Max Day - a day on which the air of Instagram and Twitter will be alive with the cry of #AIRMAX.
Far more importantly, the above Air Max 1 special edition will go on sale on 22 March in time for the momentous occasion. It's an update on the classic University Red colourway with a Volt colour and 3.26 (26 March in American dating) tongue design.
