Things you don't want your trainers to be made out of: Fire. Landmines. Lego. Metal.
While you won't find any platinum, iron oxide or zinc in the latest Nike Air Max 93 range, metallic elements have been a key inspiration. The latest colourways are based around the hues of rare metals known as lanthanides, translating into burnt red, orewod brown, cool grey and platinum white tones.
Their foot-hugging construction is made from much more conventional combinations of soft leather suede and patterned synthetic leather, while the 93's unique neoprene tongue construction cocoons you from toe to ankle.
Exclusive to UK retailer size? for £100, the Metals range is set to be unearthed on 30 May online and in stores. Keep an eye on the size? Facebook page for further details.
