Picture yourself as a bike rider stood at the top of a ramp facing thousands of onlookers. Their breath is bated, their grimaces primed and the odds of you landing a stunt never seen by this crowd are slimmer than an A-list actor looking for an Oscar nomination.
Now picture yourself crashing and burning (but not actually burning) as the trick goes wrong. A tough prospect to swallow, right? Well this happened to trick rider Bienvenido Aguado in competition at last year’s Martin Söderström Invitational as he attempted to pull off the competition’s first ever double frontflip.
Captured on a GoPro, and now newly released for us to look at, he hits the ground with a thud and it all looks pretty grim. Miraculously, however, our man then gets up, dusts himself off and walks back up the ramp, where he gives it another go. Naturally, he pulls it off.
Best of all, this was also captured on his helmet-cam, making it the closest we’ll ever get to the sheer adrenaline fuelled adulation and dizzying thrills he so brilliantly achieved. Physically, there doesn't even seem enough space and airtime to pull off one flip, never mind two.
Flipping heck.
