With the barbs traded between messrs Neville and Carragher proving more entertaining than the actual football on Sky Sports at times, it’s good to know some of the BT Sport pundits are also capable of landing the odd well-aimed zingers themselves.
Last night, into the second evening of BT Sport’s new rule over European football on these shores, host Gary Linker welcomed his guests Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Ian Wright as "three men who’ve all had their hands on this trophy".

Wright, who had never won club football’s greatest prize, and was fully aware what was coming, flashed a smile at Lineker as the presenter quickly clarified that the former Arsenal man had touched it on his way into the studio. 1-0 to the Walkers Crisp enthusiast. Or so he thought.
Barely skipping a beat, Wright summoned every bit of comedic timing to fire off a brilliant retort.
