Don’t worry, you haven’t missed 43 other films before this one.
So much so that the casting of a major film adaptation was always going to be tricky. So it was sighs of relief all round when Tom Hardy announced he had snagged the lead role as Leo Demidov, the police agent who goes rogue hunting down a serial killer targeting young children, putting at odds with commanders who aren't the most forgiving.
The rest of the cast isn’t too shabby either, with Noomi Rapace as his wife (that’s a relationship worth a film all on its own – we won’t spoil it), Gary Oldman as General Nesterov and Joel Kinnanmann as Leo’s rival officer.
Well we’re glad to report that the first trailer looks every bit as good as we’d hoped, and you can watch it below. Oh, and allow a moment or two to embrace the Slavic-tinged English accents the cast appear to have developed for this one.
Shame, after his performance as Bane, Hardy could have simply muffled his way through it and we'd have assumed Russian.
