When the greatest players take to the football field, it can often look like they're creating art. The beautiful game indeed.
And New York-based graphic designer James Taylor has taken this idea and run (down the wing) with it, creating these incredible album covers, featuring classic players as musical stars.
He explained some of the inspirations behind them, saying to The Guardian, 'I felt that [Carlos] Valderrama's hair instantly puts him into the mould of guitar virtuoso (on the Columbia label, of course). I imagined Jairzinho to make a funk-soul LP; it's the right time period and he already has the look. Socrates, on the other hand, would perhaps make a folk or experimental record with a more political message.'
They are all incredible, but the England duet brought a tear to our eye...you'll understand when you see it.
You can buy prints from James' shop right here. And one day, Roger Milla really will make that dance record.
