Bizarre Own Goal In Germany

We all love a good own goal, and the German Bundesliga is coming up trumps at the moment.

Just two weeks after Christoph Kramer's 50 yard wonderchip into his own net comes this truly bizarre effort in a northern derby match between Hamburg and Werder Bremen. Bremen were already 1-0 down when Hamburg broke, with a pass across goal presenting Tolgay Arslan with an open goal from 6 yards out. However, somehow he managed to only hit the post - yet, with the ball rolling across goal in front of the line, Bremen 'keeper Raphael Wolf - for some reason - decided to palm it into his own net.

If we weren't so sure of the complete integrity of the competition we might suggest that a few brown envelopes and betting syndicates had been involved in this. But, for legal purposes, they absolutely definitely haven't. Definitely.

The result lifted Hamburg above Bremen in the table, despite them only scoring 6 goals all season. With strikers like that we're not really surprised.
