Parachutes: not something you associate with high fashion, rather jumping out of planes and Coldplay albums. However, the folk at Ben Sherman clearly
see the life-saving devices’ sartorial potential and, seeing as they’ve spent the past five decades producing ludicrously dapper clothing, we won’t argue with them.
The brand’s spring 2014 range – entitled ‘Parachute’ – takes its aesthetic cues from, you’ve guessed it, parachutes. The items’ nylon geometric patterns can be found throughout the range, along with a parka coat with a peaked hood and a rucksack with leather belt harnesses that echo parachutes’ framework.
The official unveiling of this collection occurred at ShortList and Ben Sherman’s London Collections: Men party this week, where attendees also saw the preview of a new film, directed by Hidden’s Liam Gleeson, to promote it. Air safety has never been so cool.
