Beat Max Rushden in our Euro 2012 game

Euro 2012 is almost here and while we're nervously excited and excitedly nervous, we're also feeling rather competitive.

Our Euro 2012 prediction game Footy Streak is heating up and Soccer AM's Max Rushden has got involved to lay down the gauntlet. He's given us his predictions for who he thinks will win matches and you can join the Max Rushden league (Code: 46R057) to see if you can beat him.

While we can't reveal his predictions, we can reveal that he thinks that either Germany or Spain will be the overall winner. Here's what he had to say...

"So I am rubbish at predictions. Last year I said Fernando Torres would be top scorer in the Premier League and said Swansea and Norwich would struggle.'''

"Also in international tournaments you need luck. England had lots of luck in Italia 90 and Euro 96. We tend to forget that, and forget that however poor we were in South Africa, we had no luck whatsoever. So some teams will play well and get nothing. I'd love to be more positive about England and Republic of Ireland's chances, and like every England fan, there's part of me deep down that is sure they'll win it - but I'm trying to appear like a man with football knowledge here.'''

"We all know how good Spain are. But the Champions League Semi-Finals proved that they (Barcelona and Real Madrid) can be beaten. On paper they are clear winners. I just think maybe Germany will pip them. At their best, Germany are a great side, so I've put them as winners. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get out of their group given it's strength.'''

"England might surprise people - expectations are low for a change, which is good I think. But France have some great players, and we should be pleased if we get anything out of that game. '''

"I once had dinner with Roy Hodgson and his family at a Chelsea game and they were all delightful, so that should definitely help! '''

"Italy might surprise people, just because they'll defend and be annoying and just squeeze the life out of everyone. I quite enjoy their style though.'''

"Whatever happens I look forward to the depressing montage at the end of the game when we're knocked out. And I'll be determined not to be upset as I always get...."

Max Rushden will be hosting the Football Fanzone at East Village, 89 Great Eastern Street, London EC2A 3HX for all England and Ireland Euro 2012 fixtures. For tickets please head here.
