Important: if you want to troll Piers Morgan with Arsene Wenger memes, then now is the time.
The Arsenal-supporting Good Morning Britain host (and extremely vocal member of the #WengerOut mob) is on a self-imposed 24-hour silence, all in the name of Comic Relief. That means no tweeting, no writing, no broadcasting and no general Piers outbursts today. He’s gagged.
But there’s more. Motormouth Morgan promised the British public that if they could raise £50,000, he’d go even further by wearing a Tottenham shirt all day. The ‘Shirt Piers Up’ JustGiving page is currently sitting on £21,405, but the broadcaster wrote on Twitter last night that £50k is on its way to Comic Relief, and a gleeful Lord Alan Sugar (arch internet nemesis of Piers Morgan) confirmed that he’d followed through on his end of the deal.
There have been pledges of £1,000 from the likes of Robbie Savage, Holly Willoughby, Jamie Redknapp and Rio Ferdinand, as well as a £2k donation from ex-Spurs striker Gary Lineker, who’s also had his fair share of Twitter beef with ol’ Piersy over the years.
Even Harry Kane has been getting on the fun. The injured striker offered to double his initial contribution if Morgan kissed the famous cockerel badge.
You can still donate to the extremely worthwhile cause here, and who knows, maybe if it exceeds the target Piers might throw in an extra day.
