OK, so you’ve not really kept up with skateboarding much since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, but adidas Skateboarding have just announced a new collection with Odd Future-affiliated skater Na-Kel Smith.
An updated, summery version of the brand’s Matchcourt High RX tennis shoes from last year, these trainers are the first ever designed by Smith. According to High Snobiety, “The collection’s primary artwork features a repeating character that Smith has drawn throughout his childhood.”
“It’s a doodle based off of a younger me. Now, it’s my friend,” said Smith.” (That’s the bit on the tongue and foot-bed with the dollar-sign eyes and poked-out tongue, just btw.)
Low-profile white canvas shoes are always a necessary purchase when the ol’ thermometer gets to rising, and Smith’s RXs have that little extra pop of colour (with the black and red detailing around the midsole and the mustard yellow tread) that elevate these to another level.
