We couldn’t tell you when, why or how it happened, but at some point in cycling history, bike baskets became a predominantly female thing. Despite the fact that carrying items would appear to be a non-gender specific activity, you still rarely see a handy wicker container attached to a man’s handlebars.
Happily, though, British fashion brand Ally Capellino has created a stylish alternative for male cyclists who’d rather not tuck their iPads under their arm in traffic.
The company’s aptly named ‘Bags For Bikes’ range is manufactured by Carradice Of Nelson and features waxed cotton panniers (£150), rucksacks (£160) and despatch bags (£170) designed specifically for two-wheeled transport. Each item has a reflective trim to aid night-time visibility, while the rucksacks and the despatch bags house laptop pockets.
There’s even a fully rainproof lining on each bag, which will no doubt prove extremely useful. Especially in the height of British summer.
