It's Cersei Lanister who manages to voice the most succinct summary of George R R Martin's fantasy epic: "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground."
With all the dragon pestering and breast bothering, it's easy to forget the moments of political posturing that punctuate the drier moments of both Martin's books and HBO's adaptation. It's a fantasy saga driven by a race to capture a throne.
For those of you who've struggled to keep up with the drier moments of the narrative (you might have popped out to make a cup of tea and have a weep about another death), Gawker has teamed up with animator Devin Clark to create a comprehensive video guide to which of the Westeros houses is "winning" the titular Game of Thrones, mapping the political struggles from the first season through to the fifth.
And yes, it contains a bevy of spoilers for those of you who haven't finished watching the TV show.
For what it's worth, our money's on Little Finger to emerge as the ultimate victor.
