Excitement is building ahead of the return of the Premier League in a few weeks' time and, while there's new faces on the management side of things, there's a host of new players to look out for too. We've selected our top 7 new players to watch this season, let us know if we've missed any top tips by writing in the comments below.

Jesus Navas (Man City)
Fernandinho may be the (literal) big name, but this dinky 27-year-old from Sevilla could be Pellegrini’s smartest signing. Navas offers strength on the ball, goals and the sort of pace that would thwart cartoon coyotes.

Gerard Deulofeu (Everton)
This loanee from Barcelona looks a canny addition to the Everton team. The 19-year-old Catalonian winger is at Goodison for a season, having scored a hatful for Barca’s B side.

Paulinho (Tottenham)
A star of Brazil’s Confederations Cup-winning team, the 25-year-old will ease Spurs fans’ woes should they lose Gareth Bale to Real. Combative, tireless, free-scoring; he’s a player that’ll have commentators dusting off every “old-fashioned midfielder” cliché in their arsenal.

Jonny Williams (Crystal Palace)
This pocket-sized Welsh defence-unpicker isn’t called “Jonniesta” by Palace fans for nothing. Blessed with nimble control and laser-targeted passing, this 19-year-old has received admiring glances fromCardiff City and Arsenal.

Yaya Sanogo (Arsenal)
You won’t believe it, but Arsene Wenger’s signed a rangy Frenchman. This may not be a surprising buy, but his speed and composure could emulate one va va vooming N5 legend.
______________________________________
Andre Schurrle (Chelsea)
Brace yourself for ‘Andre The Giant’ headlines, this 6ft German international has the makings of a midfield colossus. Places in Chelsea’s squad will be scarce, but the ex-Leverkusen winger has the goals, energy and positional discipline Mourinho loves.

Wilfried Zaha (Manchester Utd)
Having arrived at Old Trafford last winter, Zaha is hardly an unknown quantity. But the 20-year-old has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo. Whether Moyes loans him out again or not, expect him to breeze through the step up.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
