Peaky Blinders creator has big news about season 4
12 January 2017

Need some uplifting news to get you through the dark and harrowing days of January? Well you’re in luck, because Stephen Knight, the creator of BBC’s fantastic gang drama Peaky Blinders, has announced that filming for the fourth season will commence in March.

Excited? Well hold your horses, because there’s even bigger news. It’s also been reported that the BBC has commissioned a fifth season as well, before filming has even began for a fourth! That’s a lot of watching Cillian Murphy moodily smoke to look forward to.

In an interview with Deadline, Knight had this to say about the return of the show: “I’m very, very excited, because I’m just completing Episode 6 of Series 4, which again I think is the best yet. And I’m loving it and it’s not like work, it’s not like a labor, I love doing it, and the boys are coming back and they’re loving the scripts, and we start shooting in March.”

And by the boys, he also means the return of Hardy’s Jewish hard-man mobster, Alfie Solomons, as he also goes on to say they "couldn't do the show without Alfie."

There’s no release date for the new episodes as of yet, but if we look at past recording times we might be able to get a good idea. Season three started filming in October 2015 and hit our screens in May 2016. So if we go by that time frame, we can expect new Peaky Blinders some time in November.
