Astonishingly, this year marks the 50th anniversary of, hands-down, one of the greatest albums ever made: Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys.

Produced and mostly written by Brian Wilson, it marked a man at the absolute peak of his musical powers, with groundbreaking songwriting, production and performance and mixing of styles.

To celebrate the release of special expanded editions of the album, we're delighted to present an exclusive clip of Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and Matt Jardine performing the album opener Wouldn't It Be Nice at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.

To say it is life-affirming would be an understatement.

As Brian Wilson explains: "I was going for something I wanted to hear and wanted to feel. A feeling of joy. A great feeling of great joy."

Mission accomplished, we'd say.

Pet Sounds (50th Anniversary Edition) is released worldwide 10 June. Preorder the CD/Blu-ray box set here & the deluxe 2CD version here. It will also be available on 180 gram vinyl in mono and stereo
