Watch this incredible wind-assisted goal in the FA Cup

The football season seems to start earlier and earlier each year, with the return of soccer this summer rudely getting underway well before the Olympics and cricket season had been given chance to finish.

But, unbelievably, not only has the action begun, but the road to Wembley in the FA Cup has already started. The first matches in the Extra Preliminary Round took place back on the weekend of the 5 to the 7 August, and the Preliminary Round took place over the weekend just gone.

And we've already got a contender for goal of the tournament, courtesy of Isthmian League Division One North side Thamesmead Town. Playing Guernsey away on Saturday, they'd already made history by netting the first FA Cup goal ever scored away from the British mainland in front of a bumper crowd of 1142 people who'd assembled to watch the match - the trophy itself was even in attendance.

But they then added a second with a glorious assist coming courtesy of a huge gust of wind which kept a long ball destined for row Z (or the sea behind row Z, more accurately) in play, looping back to be gleefully put in by Jack Mahoney.

The match finished 2-2, so Guernsey will have to make the trip to London to see who goes through to the next round, in a replay scheduled for this Tuesday.

But was it the greatest wind-assisted goal ever scored? We'd have to say no - and take a look at these beauties for evidence:
