Michael Moore just explained why Trump will win the US presidential election

Just two weeks until the US election and it’s turned into a game of numbers and hot air. A new poll from Associated Press says voters support Hilary Clinton over Donald Trump 51 to 37 – an impressive 14-point lead.

True to form, Trump is having none of it, telling CNN earlier this week that he’s actually ahead in “virtually every state and every area”, numbers be damned.

And now it turns out one man who agrees Trump will become the next US president is Michael Moore.

At a promotional event for his upcoming doc, Trumpland, the filmmaker demonstrated his point by telling a story of how Trump told Ford executives in Detroit that if they moved factories to Mexico he’d hike the tariff so their cars would be too expensive for Americans to buy – a powerful message that speaks to “every beaten down, forgotten, nameless stiff who used to be part of what was called the middle class”.

It’s a worryingly convincing speech, explaining why those disenfranchised Americans love Trump – and why he'll win come 8 November.

“Whether Trump means it or not is irrelevant, because he’s saying it to the people who are hurting,” said Moore. “He is the human Molotov Cocktail they’ve been waiting for. The human hand grenade they can legally throw at the system which stole their lives from them. They’ve essentially lost everything they had except one thing, the one thing that doesn’t cost them a cent and is guaranteed by the American constitution: the right to vote.

"It’s equalized on that day. A millionaire has the same number of votes as the person without a job. And there’s more in the former middle class than there are in the millionaire class

"And on November 8, the dispossessed will walk into the voting booth, be handed a ballot, close the curtain and take that lever and put a big fucking ‘X’ in the box by the name of the man who has threatened to up-end and overturn the very system that has ruined their lives: Donald J Trump."

“Trump’s election is going to be the biggest 'fuck you' ever recorded in human history. And it will feel good.”

Though perhaps not for the rest of us, eh America?
