Create Your Own Virtual Hoverboard

It's one of the perennial bugbears with living in 2014: why haven't hoverboards actually been invented yet, like the movies promised us they would be?

Fortunately, enterprising people exist out there who, while they can't quite create one for real, have made the next best thing: a virtual reality hoverboard.

Advertising and design studio Quince have hacked together a Wii Balance Board, a Kinect and Oculus Rift to create an immersive hoverboard experience: the Kinect tracks and maps your body, Oculus Rift projects the illusion and the Balance Board, well: that's the hoverboard, of course.

Have a look at the video below and see how it all fits together; naturally, it's fairly primitive, but if we're one step closer to living out Marty's fantasy, then that's good with us.
