Don’t get us started on the cleanliness at the Overlook Hotel. We bet those stains on the carpet were plain murder to get out.
And thanks to this new short film from animator Walter Volbers, which dives underneath the flooring outside room 217 (yes, the room from the book, not 237 like the film), we now know precisely what lurks beneath the patterned carpets once repeatedly flattened by young Danny’s tricycle.
Packing in a couple of sly nods to King's story, it's a lovely little bonus piece for any Shining buff. Though we’ll let you try and spot those for yourself...

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
