Brilliant Microwave Hacks Infographic

If the dog is man’s best friend, then surely the microwave can’t be too far behind…

They won’t retrieve a stick if you throw it, nor will they sit when you tell them to - they're kitchen appliances - but, unlike Fido, they'll help you whip up a meal for the family in minutes.

And there are much more possibilities offered by microwaving than you might imagine, exemplified by this brilliant infographic from PartSelect and Ghergich & Co., which suggests a few savvy ways of making the most of your own worktop food zapper.

Want to peel a tomato or peach, re-moisten stale bread or scramble eggs in 1 minute and 30 seconds? Child’s play. How about using it for other purposes, like removing stamps from an envelope and disinfecting cutting boards? All achievable.

Although we’d wager the most eye-opening segment of the graphic is that which tells you what food and liquid not to cook, such as Broccoli, which loses up to 97 per cent of its nutrients, and breast milk, which suffers 18 times greater e-Coli growth when microwaved on a high heat.

When they start handing out Michelin stars for microwaving, you'll remember this.
