We'd heard that Watch_Dogs had been in development for some time, but we didn't realise just how long.
Only joking. While Ubisoft's forthcoming hacker game has encountered a variety of delays, it's not really been in the works since 1989. This rather impressive downgrade demo is the work of YouTube channel MajamiHiroz, an animation group who commit their considerable skills to reworking modern games for retro consoles.
While Watch_Dogs looks to play upon contemporary fears of hackable systems and data security, the 1980s held its fair share of computer scepticism. Hack-heavy WarGames was released in 1983, followed by the robot uprising of 1984's Terminator, before things got real with the launch of Microsoft's first operating system in 1985.
You'll have to wait until 27 May before you get to play a considerably better looking Watch_Dogs.
