Imagine actually living in a TRON World. Well, it could be happening soon.
A company called Corning, responsible for the super touch smartphone Gorilla Glass, have invented Fibrance, a super-thin, thread-like material which can be illuminated to glow in any colour. It's made of glass, which enables it to be incredibly flexible, tough, and thinner than any current, similar fibre-optics on the market.
The video below shows how it works - by shining a light source into one end - and can be easily incorporated into headphones, clothing and car upholstery. When not in use, it's invisible, and thin enough to not be noticeable.
Immediate applications that we can think of are as a surrogate on/off indicator and lighting up your jacket when running or cycling at night but obviously, mainly just for the fun of pretending you're in TRON. What other uses do you really need?
Watch and marvel below.
